II can't believe this. This makes no sense. I know I'm a danger to everyone around me now but he's a danger to everyone too. Why do I have to be in this stupid camp? Safety concerns? If this is about safety concerns maybe you should be in camp too!
I realized that my thoughts were off track when I looked back at my spellbook. I sighed while I looked back at my translation dictionary book and continued to decipher the various letters on each page.

I hang upside down on a branch, using nothing but my knees to hold on. I stare down at the book the boy below me was reading. "What'choo readin'?" I didn't appear to be English. that didn't matter. I could read, speak, and understand, 43 different languages.

"Translating," I said. "The language is one of the precursors to the English language."

"This book is older than my uncle," I continued, "It makes him look like a toddler in age comparison."

I watch the text curiously. "I don't read that language. What is it?" I flip out of the tree so I was sitting beside him. It was defiantly... interesting.

"I'm not even sure what it is" I admitted, "It's like some Latin mixed with early English, then Greek thrown in for good measures."

"It's more or less based off of both Greek and Latin, but it''s like English at the same time." I said, "It has the characteristics of all three but at the same time it's unique. That's why it's difficult to translate"

"Well, then why are you going to the trouble of decoding it?" I eyed the text even more carefully. It might be possible to decode without the translation dic' he had. "And where did you get that book?"

"It's a ancient spell book," I explained. "This book was given to me by my father."

"He couldn't decipher the mystery of the book, he was a historian and studied topics like King Arthur" I said, "This book is probably older than the stories of King Arthur."

"Wow! That's interesting." My eyes wander off else were. "Do you... do you need any help? My name's Cain Smith. I'm Cabin 4's counselor."

"Yes," I said. "I'm James Ivan Richards Blood,"
"But you can call me James, like everyone else does"
I can translate Latin, Greek, Welsh, and all a few other ancient languages. This language was different though, it contained elements of Greek, Latin, and Welsh, with some more Celtic languages and English thrown in. That's what made translating it so difficult.
"My Cabin Number is 5" I said.

I glance at the book. "Venti means winds in Latin." I say pointing my finger at the word. "And that's Greek meaning healing,"I say pointing my finger again at the symbols on the page. "So it would be 'Venti Therapia' or 'Winds of Healing."

"Hmm, interesting," I said, "What makes this so difficult is that it's a combination of many different ancient languages."

I pulled out my sticky notes and tore it in half and stuck it on the page and wrote a few notes on it along with a translation.
"Then on some pages it changes into a language that's probably older than Latin"

"What? Not possible! Latin's the oldest language in recorded history!" I let out a stupendous sigh. "In RECORDED history." I glance at the book. "Hey, I'm sorry, but I can't translate something outside of my span of knowledge".

"Not older than Latin, but probably started around the same time," I said "If not some variation"

"I know Latin is the world's oldest language, I can read Latin, the problem is whoever or whatever wrote this book in a mix of Latin and several other languages and in a completely unknown language all together"

"It's not a demon language, if it was, I would be able to read it, because Erigrath would" I muttered.

I stare at the book. This was the one thing I could not do. "What the heck is that?" I point my finger at an arrangement of small symbols at the bottom of the page. "I've never seen anything like that! Do you know what that is?"

"I've seen something similar to it once" I replied. "I'm not so sure what it is though,"

"My uncle might know but this book is older than King Arthur. So I doubt he'll know what it is." I said.

I've seen these before I just can't remember when. Or where for that matter.

"I hate not knowing things! It has to be somewhere in your translation dictionary!" I seize the book from his hands, Flipping through the pages at an increasingly fast pace. "I now know 53 languages."

"If it was in there I would have been able to translate it by now!"

"Those symbols.....Those are apart of the crest my family used along time ago" I said.
"But how did they end up in here?"

"You of all people should know. It's your book."I let out a deep long 'Hm', before speaking again. "You do realize this defies everything I've ever learned."

"This book has been in my family for a long time, I'm not even sure how long it's been in my family" I replied

"Magic and Science co-exist, they're like two sides of the same coin," I said. "Like darkness and light"

"Like me and Erigrath" I continued, without realizing what I said.

"The bane of my existence," I said quickly, trying to evade and dismiss the subject. "The reason why I'm at this camp."

"Oh. I got my powers from a radio active explosion, that enhances natural abilities. I really should be dead right now." I take a breath in. "So.. What is Erigath?"

"Erigrath, the simplest explanation is that he's a monster," I said. "The reason why Jason sent me here, for safety concerns apparently"

"Oh." I decided to keep my mouth shut. the last thing I wanted was a monster on my 6. "Is that why you're trying to decipher this?"

" and No because I need to see why so many people want to get their hands on this book." I continued, "And what it has to do with my family"
